The Normans Wedding Photographer

My name is Ben Cumming, and I am a wedding photographer covering The Normans venue in Yorkshire. I started my career in film but eventually transitioned to photography. In 2021, I was named one of the Top 10 Photographers of the Year by the Guild of Photographers. I have been perfecting my style and technique for the last ten years. I’ve learned that each couple is different when it comes to their ideas of what goes into The Normans’ wedding photography.

The Normans Wedding Photography

Every couple has a unique narrative, and it’s essential that their story unfolds in a way that resonates with them. Their wedding day marks the beginning of their journey together—a fresh chapter brimming with adventure and endless possibilities. It’s a privilege to witness and document those initial, cherished moments. I strive to capture each detail so that the photographs can be treasured by generations to come. By understanding the couple’s personal style, I create wedding images that they will cherish for a lifetime.

The Normans Wedding Venue

Unique Barn Wedding Venue

The Normans is a unique barn wedding venue with a difference. It isn’t a traditional venue or facility that hosts events. It’s a beautifully converted 18th-century farm that has been in the Robinson family for three generations. The venue was created by husband-wife team Oliver and Laura Robinson, who were inspired by their own wedding in 2014 to transform their family farm into an utterly unique, award-winning wedding venue in Yorkshire. The venue is one of the best locations for an intimate wedding ceremony or a large, extravagant wedding celebration. It is an incredible setting with exposed brick walls and stunning fairy lights that create the perfect backdrop when taking beautiful wedding photos.

Exclusive Access

When you plan your special day, The Normans offers everything you could ever ask for, including exclusive access across three days, a dedicated team to ensure all wedding day preparations go smoothly, and five distinct areas that are “revealed” as the day progresses. This Yorkshire gem is unique because of the personal touches added by the owners. Every space in the venue has an elegance all its own. The bride and her bridesmaids can get ready in style, while the groom and groomsmen can prepare in comfort. As a Yorkshire wedding photographer, I look forward to capturing every moment!

History of The Normans

The wedding venue takes its name from the farm on which it is set: Normans Farm. This beautiful working farm has been in the Robinson family for three generations and, for three generations, it has been the backdrop to a number of fantastic family weddings. It was their own wedding that inspired husband-wife team Oliver and Laura Robinson to revamp and re-imagine the 18th-century farm, combining rustic charm with slick contemporary features to create a wedding venue like no other.

The Normans Is A Special Place

The Normans isn’t just ‘another barn wedding venue’. It is a labour of love. A special place for couples to exchange vows and celebrate their special day in style. The Robinson family maintains their commitment to providing an exclusive setting for couples to make their own, ensuring that no event need look or feel the same.

Weddings and Events at The Normans

The Normans is known throughout Yorkshire for its stunning rustic aesthetic, unique flow between different spaces, and exclusive approach to weddings. The venue comprises five distinct areas: The Stables Bar, Ceremony Barn, Courtyard, Grain Shed, and Cow Stalls & Tack Room. Each area is ‘revealed’ as the day progresses, creating a unique feel and flow to your wedding.

The Stables Bar

The Stables Bar welcomes guests with pre-ceremony drinks, with bifold doors opening to the Courtyard in warmer months or underfloor heating and a wood-burner keeping everyone cozy in winter. The breathtaking Ceremony Barn features exposed-brick walls, a high-vaulted ceiling with wooden trusses, and the venue’s signature floor-to-ceiling fairy lights that provide a stunning backdrop for exchanging vows.

The Grain Shed

After the ceremony, the spacious south-facing Courtyard offers the perfect place for drinks and canapés, protected by a 9m x 5m louvred ceiling pergola. For the wedding breakfast and evening reception, the Grain Shed awaits with its white-washed timber walls, billowing fabric ceiling with fairy lights, and stylish illuminated dance floor. Throughout the day, guests can relax in the unique Cow Stalls & Tack Room areas, which offer comfortable seating and a cozy atmosphere.

Rustic Wedding Venue With Contemporary Style

Couples who choose The Normans for their wedding celebration can expect stunning wedding photography. The venue’s rustic charm, contemporary features, and thoughtful lighting create endless opportunities for beautiful, atmospheric images that will be treasured for years to come.

As soon as you decide on a wedding day, you should book your appointment with me! It gives us a chance to get to know one another. During our consultation, we can discuss the type of wedding photography you want. Artistic, floral, black and white, or a lot of natural light, the more information you can give me, the better I can capture your day.

A Wedding Photographer’s Dream

From the fairy-light adorned Ceremony Barn to the rustic Courtyard, from the elegant Grain Shed to the characterful Cow Stalls, each space presents unique opportunities for beautiful wedding photography. The Ideal Backdrop For Wedding Photography

I pride myself on being able to work with the venue’s natural features to create timeless images. Whether it’s capturing the magical moment you exchange vows against the backdrop of twinkling fairy lights, documenting candid moments as guests mingle in the Courtyard, or creating stunning portraits that make use of the venue’s rustic brick walls and beautiful surroundings, my goal is to tell the unique story of your day at this exceptional venue.
