Set in stunning grounds just on the outskirts of Leeds in West Yorkshire, Oulton Hall is an 18th-century hall which operates now as a luxury hotel and venue. Oulton Hall is a magnificent backdrop for wedding photography and truly a fairytale setting for your wedding day. This venue is great for the guys too, especially if you happen to be a fan of golf! It’s always nice for the Groom and Groomsmen to have some downtime and an Oulton Hall wedding has everything you could need and more!
What to expect from your Wedding at Oulton Hall
Oulton Hall is what I’d describe as an all-year-round wedding venue with the versatility to provide both contemporary and traditional weddings. They are able to accommodate anything from smaller intimate groups to lavish weddings with 100+ guests. Typically I’ll arrive for your Oulton Hall wedding a couple of hours before the ceremony is due to start and provide full-day coverage through to the cutting of the cake and first dance. I’m also a qualified drone operator meaning I’m able to get you some stunning aerial shots of the venue.
History of Oulton Hall
Oulton Hall is a Grade II listed building which was rebuilt in the 1850s after a major fire destroyed the earlier modest 18th-century house. Oulton Hall was originally the home of the Blayds family but saw various uses during its history as a convalescent home for soldiers in the First World War, by the County Council and as a hospital before going back into private ownership. The building eventually fell into disrepair but was rescued by the De Vere hotel group and refurbished into the luxury 4-star hotel that can be seen today. The hotel now includes 300 acres of grounds, a spa, a stunning 27-hole golf course and the Claret Jug clubhouse restaurant. Oulton Hall is located at Rothwell Lane, Oulton, Wakefield, LS26 8HN.

The exterior and interior of Oulton Hall are stunning and the ideal location for wedding photography. The rooms inside are beautiful but the spacious grounds outside provide so many of the best photo opportunities. It’s great to capture all those little details of the wedding day; the dress, the shoes, the pride on parents’ faces and the laughter of your guests. This is such an important part of the day for me as an Oulton Hall Wedding Photographer. All these details help to capture the specialness of the day and look fantastic in your wedding day album. The small details here mean that your Oulton Hall wedding photography always comes out beautifully. The staircase leading down to the ceremony rooms is amazing too. It’s always worth pausing there on the way down to your wedding ceremony to grab a picture of the Bride and her Bridesmaids or the Father of the Bride. It helps you take a little breath too to steady those nerves a little! Then the ceremony rooms are just stunning and perfect for whatever size wedding you have planned. A truly beautiful place to say ‘I do’.

The ideal venue for your wedding photos
Wherever possible I like to use the front of the hall for your group wedding photographs. There are three accessible sides to the hall so anyone can be snapped outside! At Oulton Hall, wedding photography can always be done whatever the weather decides to do on the day. As I said before it’s an ‘all-weather wedding venue’ and has something for everyone. There have been plenty of wedding days where I’ve been out in the rain but kept everyone toasty and dry on the porch but still got that all-important Group or Confetti shot for you.
Wedding Portrait Photography at Oulton Hall
It’s always nice to take you both off after the ceremony to go and get some bridal portraits. This is one of my favourite times of the wedding day for you guys. Brides and grooms often feedback that after the intensity of the bridal preparations, ceremony and group photos it’s really nice just to take some time away from everyone and relax. It’s your first real-time alone as the newlywed couple and a lovely time for me to capture the intimacy and love for your wedding photographs.
